If I could pick an author to write about the real end times it would be you

It's a shame. It doesn't seem such a bad world after all.

Really enjoyed this. What I liked most was the way the narrators story and the broader story intermingle and finally resolve. The ex and in particular the conversation with the stranger and Portus that reference him are like the pins connecting the red twine on a conspiracy board. Such a human story and ending.

Without meaning to impose, I found the word "suss" from the midwestern woman completely shattered my immersion. I literally looked up and shook my head as if waking up. IME that's a pretty bay word and hearing it from the woman who I believed as a midwesterner until that point was like glass breaking.

I agree with Celeste's comment on your ability to write about these topics. Thanks for the read.

I think a lot of fiction about the singularity tries to maintain some separation or plausible deniability in references to specific companies or people, but to my knowledge this is the first of your stories that is not trying to do this at all.

> But you want what all men want, and Rebecca, Rebecca wants what all women want.

Perhaps not wrong, but wow!
